fDi Markets Newswire:

FAQs

What projects do you track?

FDI projects can be classified into five major types. They are -

  1. Greenfield investment (a new operation)
  2. Brownfield investment (expansions or re-investment in existing foreign affiliates or sites)
  3. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&As)
  4. Privatisation and equity investment
  5. New forms of investment (joint ventures, strategic alliances, licensing and other partnership agreements)

fDi Markets only tracks greenfield and brownfield investments. Joint ventures are only included in the data where they lead to a new physical (Greenfield) operation.

How is the data collected?

fDi Intelligence has an in-house team of analysts who search on a daily basis -

  • Nearly 9,000 media sources
  • Project data received from over 500 industry organisations and investment agencies
  • Data purchased from market research and publication companies

Each project identified is then cross-referenced against multiple sources. Over 90% of projects are validated with company sources.
As our data is collected primarily from publicly available sources, The Financial Times Ltd takes no responsibility for the accuracy or otherwise of the data
